Credential Structure
Arkansas Water Distribution Facilities are classified by the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) into five levels, from smallest/simplest to largest/most complex:
- Very Small Water System — the entry credential for the smallest systems
- Grade I
- Grade II
- Grade III
- Grade IV — largest, most complex distribution systems
All ADH water operator licenses (Treatment and Distribution alike) renew on a two-year cycle ending June 30 of odd-numbered years, requiring at least 24 hours of approved continuing education per period.
