What "Dosage" Actually Means
When an operator says "we're dosing 2.0 mg/L of chlorine," they're describing a concentration — a ratio of chemical mass to water volume. Milligrams per liter (mg/L) is the standard unit in water and wastewater work, and for dilute solutions in water it is numerically equal to parts per million (ppm).
