Stage 1 and Stage 2 DBPR Compliance
The Stage 1 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (DBPR), effective 2002, established the core limits that still apply today:
  • Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLs): total trihalomethanes (TTHM) at 0.080 mg/L and five haloacetic acids (HAA5) at 0.060 mg/L, along with chlorite at 1.0 mg/L (for systems using chlorine dioxide) and bromate at **0.010 mg
