Indiana Distribution System Operator Certification: DSS, DSM, and DSL
Certification by System Size
Unlike Water Treatment, which is graded by process complexity, Indiana's distribution operator certification is graded by system size:
- DSS (Small System) — 1 year of hands-on experience required.
- DSM (Medium System)
- DSL (Large System)
All three renew triennially, with continuing education requirements starting at 10 hours for DSS and scaling upward.
